Tim Nelson
Just taking a poll to see what printers you guys are using for your renderings. I have a Canon i9100 and its a nice quality print, and fast, but I can't seem to get even close to accurate color reproduction. I'm considering selling it and going with Epson or HP. Your comments would be very much appreciated. thanks
Ernest Burden III
Just taking a poll to see what printers you guys are using for your renderings. I recall there was a thread or two on this or a similar subject started by Jeff Mottle a few months ago (maybe a year?), but... I use an old Epson 3000 with semi-archival non-Epson dye-based ink for day-to-day printing, and an Epson 7000 with non-Epson archival pigmented inks for final prints, large-format. I have a second 7000 for super-archival grayscale prints.
Chad Warner
Just got the Epson 9600 for large format prints and use a Minolta CF900i for 11x17 and smaller. The Epson is far and away the best printer I have seen in terms of color and print quality. -Chad
Ernest Burden III
Just got the Epson 9600 for large format printsOne missing element from this: my 7000s were probably US$4000 each, a 9600 twice that? Maybe for some firms these are not scary numbers, but for the small offices like mine and Mr. Tim's, they are no small coin. There are cheaper printers that are just as good, or close enough. Tim Nelson
Yeah, its still big money for me to shell out for a 11x17 printer, let alone large format. Haven't had a job yet that has asked for anything large. But I guess it will happen eventually since I've only been in business for 3 months. I'm more curious though, to see what people are using for 11x17's that are $500 and under.
Chad Warner
Actually, the 9600 was just under $5000, delivered. And believe me, it was a scary number. My biggest problem was that I could not get anyone in town to print something that the colors were correct and didn't look like trash. -Chad
