Ricardo Eloy
Hey, m8s! I'm using max 7.5, but really not happy about the new Real-World Scale. All my old matlibs are now using it, and I have to correct the scale everytime. Is there a way to have it off by default, and still being able to use DesignViz mode and all the other new features? Thanks!
Iain Denby
Rick I have Viz 6 and I had the same probs. Just turn it off in Preference.
abicalho
Edit the INI file to turn it off. Old Matlibs should not have this on (it didn't exist!)
Ricardo Eloy
Thanks for the help, guys! Alex: that's exactly what caught me in first place. I started a new class yesterday (first one using 7.5) and all the materials from the ArchMat libs had it on...That's why I thoug it was something deeper than a simple preference (although I should have checked that in first place). AJLynn
Dumb question: Does real world scale actually work? I've tried it and there always seems to be some problem or other.
Ricardo Eloy
Well, as far as I can say, it does work. Of course, it's a bit annoying for those not used to it...(me included)
abicalho
Hi Andrew, Real World scale puts the burden of the "Size" where it should be: in the Bitmap. You scanned or took a picture of that piece of marble, you know how large that piece is, so it's a lot easier to just write the size right there at the bitmap and then it fits correctly. Then, if you need to change it in the objects you can just offset it using the UVW Adjust (or UVW Offset) modifier. It's a pretty cool concept and I hope it sticks cause it has the potential to simplify everyone's lives.
