Fausto
HI, this is my first post! i'm working with some final images for print presentation at a resolution of about 1800 px wide x 1100. the problem are render times: 6 to 7 hours, is this resonable or not? the irr map is undersampled to -5 -4, hsphsubd 50/20, AA adaptiv -1 2 glossy reflections, 4-5 vray lights... someone can give me an advice? Msamir
Lower the reflections on the floor a little in the first image , nice render.
Bugga_Guy
The dinning room chairs are way too high - they are almost touching the glass table. And I agree with Raven - way too refective on the floors.
nbasir
Nice render. Avoid using raytrace reflections and refraction in the secne. use vray materials for reflection. It is more faster for rendering. Reduce the number of light used and also check the light sample setting( dont use more than 10). It will also reduce the rendering time. And finally check that you are using a powerfull machine with gigs of rams and hard disk space
Fausto
ok! checked the chairs! the materials are all vray exept a brass mat for the lamp that is standard with metal shader and various maps...this mat could create vray rend time problems? i post the screen shot of the mat. the ram is 787 M , and work disc space in backburner was 3G and now i have 6G. i checked the lights: have 10 subdiv in sampling. see you soon guys! you are all very kind! vibhore22
hi friend, well i guess the problem with ur rendering time would be because of more amount of reflective elements in ur scene. i guess if u reduce the amount of reflection on the floor and also check that if the "REFL.GLOSSINESS" in the material is less then 1.0 then also it takes more time to render so play with the reflection parameters and also if u have used 4-5 lights then switch off the shadows of those lights which are not required. see ya
mbr
Ram could be a reason you are experiencing slow times. Typically, 1 gig would be the absolute minimum. Not sure how VRay works, but I know Final Render you'd have to switch the way that it processes the info, which exponentially increases time (sometimes, not all the time). I had to do that when I had 768, when I upgraded to 1536, it was all fine. Crits: Too much reflections, as everyone noted. The Jacobson chairs are not that tall, it just looks odd having a dining table with bar stool height chairs. How are the stairs supported? I don't think it'd be physically possible to have such thin structure, esp without lateral support (that glass ain't gonna help!). Nice images, though. Fausto
ok, but if i go in task manager windows i see thet the memory used is 755M of 785M of total phisical memory, with a peak of 775M.
Fausto
oh, i forgot a question...i would to add some handmade african statues- did you know what modeling tecnique to use for that task? byeee
Tim Saunders
it looks real good. hope the other suggestions can help with rendering time. the only thing i would fix is the background. with the amount of light (almos white) in your scene, your background has far too strong of a contrast. looking though glass with that kind of light inside, i think the atmosphere outside would apear a bit washed out. i would just touch up your image for the background a bit. either bump up the brightness, or just fill it in with white and real low opacity to wash it out a bit. Fausto
yes rmaytee, you are right about the contrast and light of the bkg...I will fix it soon! also i'll post a variant with Armani like colors... !!!!question: there's a methood to render in backburner only the irrmap for 4 views (with no AA, no reflections) and then launch the 4 final rends (with AA and refl.) to save time? thanks and see yaa
