Hi guys

Shock horror i hear you cry, STRAT using the technical forum!!!!

This will prolly more apply to uk ppl, but who knows?

i just bought a tiny digicam on a keyring for about £30. damn cheesy but cool with it.

it gave me a USB cable to d/l the images to my 'pute, which is fine in work, but i want to d/l them on my laptop at home too. only my laptop hasn't not got USB.

So i need to purchase a USB to serial or parallel convertor. The cheapest i seen is so far around £55 - nearly double the camera price.

Does anyone know of any cheap on-line shops i can browse through and purchase a much cheaper one? i dont really want to pay more than £10 for one. or anyone in the UK have one they wouldn't mind selling?

Greg got any useful links?

cheers ppl

this will most likely not work.

usb->ps2 converters only work with mice, afaik.

there are usb->pc-card converters, which also only work if the pc-card slot is one of the newer cardbus interfaces.

your laptop doesn't have usb connectors, that means, chance is high that it also doesn't support the cardbus standard.

i was in the same situation, the only thing that worked with my laptop was a pc-card reader (which doesn't require cardbus) to directly plug in the camera flash card (memory stick) into the laptop, which is the most elegant but not cheapest solution.

if your camera uses a compact flash card, pc-card adapters are not too expensive (because compact flash cards have their own controller, as opposed to smart media or memory stick)
