Sketchrender
I am not advertising this crowd, but I thought as there is so little in the way of tangable reference documents on vray, this may interest all vray users. Gnomeworkshop......... may be worth looking at. phil
Chad Warner
It looks as though it's created by the very same Christopher Nichols who frequents this site. If that's the case, it's probably worth the price.
Ray
Could you post a link to the site? (I'm having some trouble finding it here.) Thanks.

alkis t.
as there is so little in the way of tangable reference documents on vray the above is not correct there are tons of sites, and tutorials on vray most importantly the vray forum and vrayinfo. there is also a very concise manual that explains pretty much every aspect of vray and it includes several tutorials as well. cristophers DVD would be a welcome addition regards alkis
Christopher Nichols
I agree with you alkis. There are a ton of great stuff out there. I use it all the time. I think the main issue with that online reference is that, in generla, it helps those that already know a lot about Vray and GI. This DVD, as it says on the page, gives people a solid understanding of GI for those that are coming from a direct light world, and uses Vray to do it. It is much for "artistic" rather than technical, which is why it will serve non-vray users as well. I think there are many points that this DVD makes that established GI and Vray users may appreciate as well. Also keep in mind that this is the first DVD in a small series. skauty
Chris, looks awesome. I will definitely be ordering it and can't wait for the others in the series. Are they going to be on Vray and GI also, or will they cover a different topic.
dexter
just wondering?...how much will it cost?...
Sketchrender
Well, there is nothin worse than being slapped on the hand, online so everybody can read it. I am using the free version so far. So what exactly do you get for your money when you buy the full version, and do you get upgrades as part of the purchase package as the releases move very quickly. My appologies gentlemen. I am looking forward to the dvd, as at the end of the day it is the fibnal image that sells, annd it dosen't really matter to most people if the lighting is accurate or not. thanks phil
Christopher Nichols
Well I would say that the DVD series is more on GI and primarily uses Vray. I am not sure what the cost will be, but based on the prices of other DVDs at Gnomon, I would say between $59 and $69. I believe that education discounts may also be available. But really you should contact them as I'm just speculating.
radii
Christopher, I got the DVD and must say that I am very impressed by it. I'm not quite through yet, but the overall flow and presentation of subjects so far, is great. The scenes look top notch and your short render times are out of this world. Seriously, I knew that I must have been doing something wrong in that respect (hours and hours for something decent), but 8 mins for the highway scene, just blew my mind !! Great work and I hope to see more releases like this in the future (maybe interior lighting ?).
dexter
In that case I'll buy it...yeah, cris should do an interior one...
Sketchrender
I have to agree. It is worth buying, i am not fully through it either, but the flow is clear, for 65 euros all in delivered within a week, worth the money. One thing, the lights that were used in the lectures were not explained...I think) , that was the only thing I was a little confused about , if i use a daylight system with vray the render time goes through the roof, as i would like to set up time of day shots if i could. is there a solution to this. By the way what is next in the dvd line from you chris. phil
