architheo
I 'm linking a auticad file to 3dsmax 7 but the curves ( spheres e.t.c.) are not smooth. They are just multi-faced solids, although I have increased the curve steps to 100 on the file link manager palette
cdos00
I had the SAME issue about a week ago. Thankfully one of the EXTREMELY knowledgable people on this forum answered my question quickly. So, I am paying it forward. Change the 'surface deviation for 3D solids' spinner. I think by default it is set to 1.0.....I usually change it down to 0.1 or lower...that should make all your curves and spheres look SWEET! oh, you may need to apply a 'Smooth' modifier to some of the spheres to get them to not have a gradient along their faces. But don't apply it if you don't need it. Cheers.

cdos00
No problem, Like I said, "just paying it forward" This forum is unique in the fact that there are people from all over the world that are helping other people from all over the world.....working in unison, regardless of race, color, creed, religion, or sexual preference. Simply wonderful. I think the world could learn a thing or two from this forum.
Creapix
In addition to what Chris said, and if for example you get .3ds files etc with bad meshing etc, there's AutoEdge Selected 0.5 by Jon Seagull: http://www.jonseagull.com/downloads.shtml#autoedge It does clean up some bad looking meshes sometimes and is worth trying. Cheers.
