Creapix
VRay Distributed Rendering is still a bit buggy and not usable in heavy production right now. It can work, but you're likely to come into problems of slaves not starting in time or crashing or not restarting automatically after a cancel etc. But after some trial and errors you might get it to work fine sometimes. I think it should get fixed for 1.5 tho.
mike_sul
hi ... if the vray DR is supposedly buggy, what alternative technique can be utilised to cater for the high render times for animation projects ... the urgency of this question need not be stressed thanks - mike
JamesTaylor
i have it working on 1.46.xx
jucaro
DR is for single frame rendering using multiple PCs. For animations, you are better off with Backburner.
Creapix
Exactly as Juan Carlos said, if you need more help, the VRay help file available through your account gives you really good insight and tutorials for rendering animations and the procedures to use. Juan Carlos, I read a thread in the VRay forum, where Vlado said that it is now working with animations and will be included in the next release . But like you, I think I'll stay with backburner rendering for a while, until it's 100% stable and safe to use DR. But as DR is limited to 10 computers at the same time, Backburner will certainly stay the best choice for big animations.
