Snap on 3millon vertex scene problem

Hi all, do you have any idea why snap is working so slow over my 3millon vertex scene?

 

I wait and wait over a vertex just waiting for the cian cross and never appear, when I isolate objects it works fast.

 

any cooment?? thanks!!!

Hi,

the main problem on your 3 million polygon scene is that is has 3 million polygons. The snap uses feedback from your graphic card and, the more geometry it has to calculate to estimate the exact position of your cursor on the screen and then decide witch vertex is better to snap. So, i advice you to work hiding geometry whenever you nedd to use snaps.

Also, consider putting static objects into one or more XRef scenes. Select the objects, go to File > XRef Scenes... and then the "Convert Selected" button, to save the selected objects to a new scene.

 

You can then control the visibility, display those objects in Box mode, and turn them off altogether, as needed. It will also reduce your main file size, which is helpful if you make numerous versions over time.
