Jennifer
A lot of things go into the rendering speed of a computer. If your old computer has a faster hard drive and dual-channel memory, it may well outperform your new computer if it doesn't have that advantage. But, that is quite a difference in speed! Usually when the program takes a long time for me, it is spending too much time searching for bitmaps for the materials, especially if it is trying to search to network drives that may not be on-line. Ensure that all your maps are local to that machine, and not on a network drive, or at least move all used maps to the local machine. In the Tools tab, use the Resource Collector to copy the maps used in the scene to a local location; it can also update the materials to look there first. I also create a "\maps\NetMaps" folder as a 'catch all' for quick access to maps in a project. I add that to the Configure > Configure Paths and the 'External Paths' tab, at the top of the list, and use the Resource Collector to put the maps there. When the project is done it is fairly safe to delete the contents of that folder since they are copies. Good luck!
