ShaunDon
Hey all. This should be a question that everyone will answer very quickly and with a resounding "No!" -- but I've gotta ask 'cause it's putting me in a tight spot. Does anyone know a routine or any product to convert a Max 7 file to a version that can be opened in Max 6? I know this is the bane of everyone's existence, but I've gotta check anyway. Thanks! Shaun p.s. *Insert whiny grumbling about how Autodesk Media and Entertainment is a monolithic, evil corporation bent on screwing over their user-base so that they may squeeze $$$ anual subscriptions out of anyone and everyone, whether they need the new software or not. The bastards.*
schmoron13
i had to convert files from 7 to 5. What I did is export to Acad ('04) and then reimport the file in v5.1. The main issues were that polycount shot through the roof (extra geometry). Hope this helps,
C.Vestal
I seem to remember a script by Bobo. Not sure if it was max7 though... check here http://www.scriptspot.com or http://www.scriptspot.com/bobo
Chad Warner
Bobo's script was "back from five" but it's still supposed to work for newer versions.
Jennifer
Take a look at the Alias 'Filmbox' format. They have free plugins for most software, and it is a format that supports materials and animation. http://www.alias.com/glb/eng/products-services/product_details.jsp?productId=1900004 Have fun!
