danteprojetos
Hello, ecastillor!! I saw some really good improvements, such as a content library, like in autoCAD, an option to save your scene state, with all the parameters, lighting, materials for future use.. Besides that, there is also a studio setup ready to use, and a Batch Render Tool. The downside is, some plugins have a hard time with it, and if you use distributed rendering in Vray, don't even think about upgrading, as it is not working as it should now.. Cheers ! vizwhiz
There may be an issue with file linking i have an NFR 2006 VIZ at home (after 5 installation attempts) which does NOT SHOW THE acad FILES That should be LINKed well THEY are LINKed but They do NOT SHOW UP in the viewport something strange i Think it is a marketing strategy To Take Things out of VIZ (That used To work) and Then offer Them as improved new features in 3ds MAX (so That people will (have To) upgrade to max) well, That is exactly what i am going To do sometime Next week when my casa re-financing comes Thru (which should be This week) and a dual dual-core 64 bit system, 4 gb ram (is That enough memory for a 2x2/64 ??) ** hasta la huevos VIZ como estas 3ds MAX not sure if i am bi-lingual or not but Trying To be Randy
abicalho
Hi Randy, I haven't seen or heard of any problems with File Link in VIZ 2006. All DWG files we had at Autodesk linked with no problems, just like they do in VIZ 2005 or MAX 7. Can you give me any more information? -Alexander
JamesTaylor
i'd stick with 2005 for the time being. we've just updated all our machines at work to 2006, but have many little, but irritating problems. as such we've all gone back to using 2005 which works as expected. tcorbett
My office replaced my computer and upgraded to 2006 last week. Was plagued by pesky crashes, especially when raytracing, or running multiple applications. Turning off hyperthreading (virtual dual processor on the P4) seems to have solved the crashing problem. Not sure if it this is a hardware or software issue, but it seems to be working well now [fingers crossed].

himom
May or may not be in the right thread, but i'm desperate.... Anyone know if there are problems with VIZ 2005 being able to read VIZ 2006 files?? I file sent to me by my client will not open in our version of VIZ 2005. We get a 'missing dll' superclass window.... any ideas would be helpful. Tried merging the file in to a new scene with no success. Will probably get the client to save down to .3DS, although that's going to create it's own headache. Thanks for any advice or assistance!
JamesTaylor
Viz 2006 files will not open in Viz 2005 - you'll have to use 3ds file but like say that'll have its own issues
himom
Thanks James -- that incompatibility is the main reason why my firm will not upgrade until the feature sets dictate that we do... We survived happily for years on release 3, probably far longer than autodesk preferred that we did; the problem now being that some of our clients are on subscription and therefore are now sending us files that won't talk with each other. Argh... Thanks again.
