STRAT
hi guys. got a niggling problem that occures more and more i regulaly do a qsave or a ctrl s to save my drawing. but recently i've been getting the message every time i try to save - ....\x.dwg has a command in progress. Hit enter to cancel or (retry): this is most frustrating. i have NO other commands in progress. no file linking, no xrefs, no images no nothing. i press escape a zillion times too and it still says a got a command in progress cannot save. i have to keep wblocking my drawing into new drawings all the time. anyone else suffer from this? JamesTaylor
i've suffered from this in the past, but never managed to get to the bottom of it. like you i've alwats had to copy the entire file into a new dwg, then it'll save fine.
Chad Warner
This happens to me all the time. If you type "save" at the command line, it should save for you. I don't know what causes the problem in the first place.
vizwhiz
Strat you can check The cmdactive status with This (getvar "cmdactive") ** not sure how or if This will Fix anything ?? but it should let you know if There is anything still hanging in autocad ** Randy
Tim Nelson
Another tip is that when this happens just type QUIT and it will give you the option to save before it closes. This happens mostly when you are orbiting your model in a shaded view and try to save in that state - or at least I have found that to be the case. Hazdaz
I get that error once in a while also... this is the best way I have found to save your work, but without closing it: Jump to another page (like if you are in PaperSpace, jump to Model Space or vice versa). That will clear up any of that "command is in progress" BS and let you save your work.
STRAT
just happened again. the only method i got to work was Chads. i typed in SAVE, saved over my drawing, quit then reloaded.

Too bad, it would be nice to not have to close the drawing and re-open.
STRAT
no, didnt work for me either. it's is a pain in the butt, but the process of saving over my drawing, quitting, then re-opening takes litterally 5 seconds flat. so no great shakes really thanks guys.
