Ken Walton
Anyone have any reviews or opinions over these two cards? I'm running a quadro4 950xgl on the system I've got now (and love it), but ever since I started CG I've been under the impression that a Wildcat was the best around. Is this true (running max 6 mainly) or is it just hype surrounding the name? I can finally afford one now, (for the next system) but is it better than the nVidia? Thanks in advance, Ken Walton
Chad Warner
I don't know the answer to your question, but have one of my own in the same vein....What is the difference between the Quadro 1000 and 3000? -Chad

Chad Warner
Thanks for the link- but what I meant was whether or not the 3000 was worth the difference in price from the 1000. If anyone had any experience with both or either of them. -Chad
Greg Hess
Wildcat's a bit overpriced for max. Max's ogl/d3d engine is pretty poor (comparitively vs other animation packages), and doesn't really benefit from alot of the advanced features a wildcat brings to the table. I'd probably consider a wildcat for CAD, but not for DCC. Stick with a Quadro...even a Quadro 1100 FX would be a very good solution. (And alot cheaper too)
Chad Warner
Thanks Greg. Looking at the benchmarks on the nvidia site, it doesnt look like a whole lot of difference between the 3000 and 1000 while using Max. -Chad
Greg Hess
Chad, The FX 1100 is closer in performance to a 2000 then a 1000 is...between the two, I'd definitely try and get a FX 1100. It seems to be the best bang for the buck right now. Are you looking for benchmarks of these cards? http://www.3dchips.net/content/review.php?id=63&page=1 The FX 1100 would be just a tad behind a FX 2000...
