oluv
when i import or create my model in meter system units i always get an annoying viewport clip. everything in front of the view up to 1 meter is clipped away, i cannot walk around the model because the walls are fading away as soon as i approach. i can turn viewport clip on or off. it doesn't change anything. the only way is to create a camera and set the front clipping to 0 meters manually, but as soon as i turn to perspective view the clip is there again. it doesn't occur with centimeters, because the clip seems to be 1 cm then. but 1 meter is too much. how can i deal with this? most of my models are in meters, and i don't want to screw up the units, because i need them right for radiosity. thanks for all your help! o. abicalho
Right-Click the Viewport label and choose Viewport Clipping. You can now adjust it for the perspective view. My suggestion is to not use System Units = Meters, but to use System Units = Inches and then use Display Units = meters. The end result will be the same. Ricardo Eloy
I have always used system units set as 1 unit = 0,025 meters. It's like saying 1 inch, just in meters. Interesting enough, if I set it to 1 inch, I get different sizes...
oluv
Right-Click the Viewport label and choose Viewport Clipping. My suggestion is to not use System Units = Meters, but to use System Units = Inches and then use Display Units = meters. The end result will be the same. so i think i don't understand max's idea behind system units and display units. i thought system units are the real-world units. if i have a model in centimeters, i should import it with the right system units... if my model is a dwg with let's say 1 unit = 1 centimeter, then i import this into max with 1 unit = 1 inch, and i export the model again, what will my final model-size be? abicalho
After you choose Viewport Clipping, adjust those two arrows. Your clipping will then be "fixed".
