Carrotious
I seem to be having a strange problem with my translucent material. I get the light going through or being generated but not the transparency. I followed a tutorial from vrayinfo.com and have put the results here. the first is the image from the site and the second is mine. I get the light but the shadow of the small ball is not going throught the cube... Any one have any ideas...
Thablanch
Well, if you followed the tut. propreley, I would say it is a version issue The first image was made with version 1.08xx, and you are working in 1.47xx When Vray passed from 1.09xx to 1.45xx, some subdivision settings changed, like qmc subdiv was 50, now it is 8 for the exact same result, I never did that tut. you are talking about, but mabee a few settings need to be tweaked.. Here is a good exemple by Richard Rosenman, explaning really well sss http://www.richardrosenman.com/vray_absorption.htm Hope it helps!
Tommy L
Have you got caustics turned on?
Carrotious
yeah I had a look at that. It doesnt actually use the translucent material function. What i'm trying to achive is very simillar to the attached image. a light with a wire structure, with the light on. i'm all good with the transparency useing refraction and fog but the moment i go to use translucent the material becomes opaque. do i need caustics. I didn't realise i need them...
