dpn
I am rendering with a 2.4 Dual Xeon with 2 GB of RAM PC. I have turned off hyper-threading, and set the affinity to all four processors. In the task manager the performance never goes beyond 30%. I have run the same process over a single 2.6 P4 with 1 GB of RAM and it manages to keep up with the Dual Xeon machine while running consistently at 98%. Do I have a hardware problem? How do I check? abicalho
Not all operations of a render are multithreaded. It's hard to tell without knowing the scene. Do this: Create 8 objects, 8 lights. Make sure they're large and interfere with each other. Process Radiosity with some meshing. You should see all 4 processors running at full power (one object is processed per each processor) Hope it helps,
