trhoads
Hello all, I have been out of the rendering world for a while now, no work going on. But I have been working on this little detail for a day or two now, just wanted to get some feedback. It is not close to done yet, but should be by the end of Monday. Thanks in advance. raterry
Looking good so far, I really like the door as well. Are you using renderable splines or mesh for the railing? Also, where did you get that tall plant, I've been looking for one similar to that. post an update when your done. -=rob

AutoCAD solids, all of my work, minus some entourage is done with solids. Also, where did you get that tall plant, I've been looking for one similar to that. post an update when your done. -=rob Vb Visual, nice stuff, low poly count, but it takes a little to get used to working with them. http://vbvisual.com/db/index.php?rubrik=pflanzen&volume=3&software=2&layout=vbvisual I am still working on this one, and will post another tomorrow. raterry
Thanks for the VBvisual link, I hadn't seen that one before. I use speedtree (just the demo so far as I can't get the boss to kick down enough yet for the set) I just downloaded the free tree from Vbvisual and it looks nice but was taking forever to render, I went to "exclude from radiosity" but didn't let me change any of it's properties. I use MAX 5. Can those setting be changed do you know? -=rob
Lebjos
its a nice render, but in the lower left corner of the render, should the column be hanging off the inside edge a little bit (the floor below the balcony)?

The full version has two copies of everything, one that is high poly count, and one that is about half as much. I use the lower poly count trees for anyhting far from the POV, and the high res stuff for up close. but in the lower left corner of the render, should the column be hanging off the inside edge a little bit (the floor below the balcony)? there is a wall under it, that is flared to match the column, but the overhang of the wall cap hides it. It was the only way to make the column capital line up porperly with the wall above. thanks for the comments all. it is very appreciated.
trhoads
Just an update, I finished off the blacony shot, and worked out another. Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
IC
Coming along well. They look competent if a wee bit clean for my taste. I'd make the indoors darker and the glass in the first image would be far more reflective and less transparent at that angle (fresnel).
Tim Saunders
looks good. one thing that bothered me a bit since the first post was your bump on the walls. it is just a bit too reapeated. i would suggest getting a concrete or stucco bump and mix it with your current bump using the "smoke" as your mix. that will add some good variation to your texture. this is of coarse if you are using max/viz.
