which of the 3 to buy?

Recommended Posts

Hi there all you Gregs...

Here is a Laptop question:

I have these 3 options from the same manufacturer (Aopen).

They all come with everything I can imagine I'd want in a laptop, but still have some differences:

The first one is the strongest one P4 2.4Ghz(not mobile version) on an SIS 948 chipset. Its also the heaviest (Weight: 7.5 lbs / 3.40 kg) and has nVIDIA GeForce4 Go 488 (AGP 8x) in it, and it doesn't look as nice as the other two.

The second one has the mobile version of the P4 (1.8Ghz in my case), lighter (Weight: 5.7 lbs / 2.59 kg), Intel 852GM chipset but an intel integrated video card. Oh, it also has a built in flash memory card reader, which is good for me.

The third one is just like the second one only on a motorolla chipset.

All three come with 15" (in my case), 512Mb, 30Gb (enough for my use), DVD/CDRW combo, USB 2.0 and built in firewire.

Kinda debating between performance (CPU and VID) + heavy weight and ugly looking VS. mobility (lightweight) + nice design.

Which would you get, and why...

Oh, I know you might want to, but please, don't offer me a DELL, copmaq, Toshiba, IBM... it has to be one of the above, which reminds me to add that all three are priced the same (in my case) ;)

Go with that one if you plan to do 3D work. if not go for the cheaper P4.

Xavier, tnx for replying.

This machine isn't going to do any 3D work at all.

Lots of AutoCAD (no 3D) work, DVD and internet.

However I wanted to know if anyone knows anything about that Intel video performance in general, doesn't have to be 3D performance?

I'm not too sure about integrated Intel video. If I were you I would just go for the GeForce4 - you never know when you might need it...just incase you gotta show your 3D or play a game or watch video or something. Better to have that extra power than not. :)
