citruss
I'm a newbie to this forum with alot of experience in architectural renderings using formz. I'm looking to make the switch to C4D for animation purposes and possibly replace formz as my general rendering program if the results are good. I downloaded the demo and while I shouldn't have any problems with the modelling aspect because I import much of the project from autocad, there are a few things that I need to figure out once I get the file open in C4D. I need to apply image maps to flat planes in order to generate people, cars, trees, etc. Can someone tell me or direct me to a tutorial that specifically addresses this process? In formz, for a person, it was a matter of extruding a line segment 6' and then applying the surface style of the image map with alpha channel on the object. Then using the texture map option to center the surface on the plane. If I can learn to do this, I will be able to get some decent results. Although I also need to learn how to set up a camera, but I think I can find a tutorial for that. Or better yet, can I import my texture maps, lights & cameras with a model that has been set up in formz? Thanks, Ryan
edub
check this post on the FormZ message board for info on exporting to C4D: http://www.formz.com/web_site_2000/content_pages/forum01/discus/messages/142/5281.html? C4D Cafe has some nice video tutorials - not sure if there's one that address your questions, specifically though. http://www.c4dcafe.com/ipb/index.php?dlcategory=
AJLynn
Look at the C4D tutorial files from Maxon, they're included with the program - the section on textures covers this kind of thing, it's easy to do something like put in a color map for th photo and a monochrome version as transparency map. citruss
Thanks! the c4d cafe tutorials seem to be exactly what I was looking for. I will probably be spending alot of time there in the near future. Ryan
