drabin
I was hoping I could get some helpo/suggestion on this rendering. It is not striving for photorealism, but I am am looking for a sense of space and volume. The modelling is about 90% done and the materials are very simple, a basic grey/concrete, glass and an orange/wood. The lighting is where most my difficulties lay. Right now there is a mix of standards and photometrics, with the main light coming from two directionals. Basically I am just testing things out and seeing what works best. I would like to brighten the scene without washing it out or illuminating the orange wood too much. Iam finding that by increasing the multipliers I lose the shadows. As well Exposure control ( the image uses automatic) doesn't help much wither. Any suggestion or help would be great Thanks Dan
DennisHolland
Hi Dan, if you are working with Max, try a skylight with a 0.8 multiplier slightly blueish colour and just 1 directional in a nice angle with a multiplier of 0.6 slightly yellow and shadows on (try advanced raytraced and transparency turned on because of the glass). Change the environment in lightblue (rendering > environment) or something different than plain black. Probably need to change a couple of times after that but it's a good start... Remember to always start with your keylight before adding additional light, it works best when starting to study lightsetups. Delete all lights you are using right now because I think it is not working out well. Post a fresh one if you're finished?
