Devin Johnston
Has anyone ever had flying birds in an animation? If you have how did you do it?

Devin Johnston
What does that have to do with flying birds?
Tim Nelson
Also look at the 2005 AVC animation by Santos. He put those pigeons in his animation and they look great. How he did it, I don't know!
DennisHolland
Hi Devin, Maybe pick up some exisiting footage of real birds flying over? Make sure the background is transparent and have it in a layer on top of your animation with a few mouseclicks (in premiere pro). I suppose this is the most easy and photorealistic solution for a bunch of birds in the sky... Dennis
Devin Johnston
I thought about that but I don't know where I could find video with an alpha or croma background.
Bugga_Guy
I believe poser has birds or at least 1 bird. You can animate the wings render the anim frames out and composite them in with after effects. Thats how a company I used to work for did it. There is also a plugin to import poser models in with anim. but I forget the name.
nisus
Hi, Check the resolution of the birds first. Most of the time you can get away with a simple 5-box-object and animating them. Use the maybridge-books for animals as a reference. Make one animated cycle and use them distrubuted in a particle system... In this animation (from 2001) almost every daytime shot has birds animated as described above...
