using a dome to only reflect in vray?

Usually what I do is create a standard material with 100% self illumination and apply my background map to it. Then I add a Vray material wrapper over it. Then you right click on the object and go into Vray properties. Then uncheck the box that says visible to gi. Then if you have any direct lights, you need to exclude that dome from any of those lights.

Then...you're done! Also what Brian said is correct if you don't want to see the object in the background but still want it to be reflected.
