Tommy L
aaaaaah! Whats that black thing on the ceiling? Still from an animation using viz6 and vray. I thought at first it was an irradience map problem (nope) then a geometry problem (nope) so... Any ideas? Cheers, Tom.

Brian Cassil
My guess would have been coplaner faces on the ceiling.

bokkins
cut those frames that are affected, it wont affect the output... not unless its a plague.
mbr
I'd try adding a new ceiling, just an inch or so below. Try rendering, if it works you are all set. If the artifact is still there, than it's the GI. Personally, I've found that objects, for whatever reason, can do weird things with GI. I've had to rebuild random walls, usually because of some modifier or boolean.
Dynedain
Like you thought at first, it is an irradience map problem. You rendered the irr map every nth frame, and now when you use the saved irrmap, you are missing some data necessary for this particular view. That, or something moved between the irrmap calcs and this rendering. What you're seeing is simply missing lighting data.
