Brian Cassil
The only thing you need to bear in mind is that all the machines need to be able to "see" the bitmap paths and the out path for the final image(s). None of the machines need to be set up as a server per se, but they do need to be able to share information between each other.
ecastillor
Well, that I have...they all see each other...how do I configure viz for net render?
vertexART
Hi there, dunno about Viz, but this is how it's done in Max, I guess it's similar for you too... 1.U need the program running on a single machine 2.start 'backburner>server' on all machines U want to use. Under 'general setting' U should configure subnet mask to look for 'manager's machine' IP. 3.start backburner>manager on machine that's running the program. there U should see if the previously configured server is found... hopefully. 4.under render dialog, U should have options like 'output' file path, where U can store the rendering. Also, there must be a check box or something to enable 'net render', which will trigger a new window.... in which U have a list of all available machines, so U can choose which one to assign to a job. 5. I just hope it helps a bit.. Cheers

anvaraziz
on v-ray they have Distribute rendering,,, very usefull stuff it is...
AJLynn
Try it with VRay's distributed renderer - Backburner will assign frames to each machine, which is useful for animation or queuing, but if it's one big still you're doing, not useful. VRay's distributed renderer will split the work of a single frame between computers, and it's pretty efficient. Run VRaySpawner on all the render node machines (not on the machine you're running Max on) and put all the other computers' names into the distributed render settings under System rollout in the Renderer tab.
