ant_sutton
Hi guys. I have a small living room scene modelled in 3ds max. I have a direct light for sunlight and a vray light outside a large window. The direct light has a multiplier of 3 and the vray light has a multiplier of 4. When I do a test render to see how the light is looking I get large bright hotspots from the vray light around the window. I havent had this problem before, and dont know what is wrong. I have attached the light setup and a render with just the vray light on. I have also attached the scene file (virus checked) if anyone has some spare time to have a look at the scene. It would be greatly appreciated thanks for your time Ant
skogskalle
nothings wrong man.... you just have way too much light in there... lower the multiplier on your vray light and it should be fine...
JamesTaylor
in the render dialog box under G-Buffer turn the colour mapping drop down menu onto HSV exponential. should remove your hotspot and give a more natural feel. if need be up your dark multiplier slightly too, but only adjust one at a time until know what each one does. Tim Saunders
multiplier of 4 is huge. i rarely have a light with a multiplier over 1.
ant_sutton
Hi guys. thanks for your help. I used a combination of your suggestions - multiplier of 1 and HSV in colour mapping and increased dark multiplier. Could you please explain the colour mapping options for me? Seem really helpful, but dont know how they work and what they can be used for thanks again Ant
