Maxwell Render for FormZ

Recommended Posts

wadayaknow, NextLimit has released a plugin for FormZ to use their aledgedly upcoming Maxwell Render engine:

Formz plugin released for Mac and windows.

MAXWELLZ 0.5.2.0

RELEASE NOTES:

- The plugin runs only with FormZ 5.5. It does not run in Form 5.0 or earlier versions.

I will use MWR via the Cinema4D plug, but I could now also use the SketchUp, Rhino and FormZ hosts (if I were to upgrade to FZ5.5).

Think of it this way--now there is 'one good reason' to upgrade to FZ5.5!

If i hadn't finally succumbed and switched to a better piece of software (Cinema) I would currently be jumping for joy...

... a shame really, as although I haven't even looked at FZ in well over six months now, I still am rather fond of it as an architectural modeller.

does maxwell have a free of trial version?

No. And we are past the =pre-order' pricing.

But you can have a look at the maxwellforum site for many examples of what it can do. MWR is doing wonderful things (especially in the hands of Fran Davey) out of Rhino, which is similar to FZ in being more a modeler than render app.

Damn, and I was convinced Maxwell was all hype. I do love FMZ for modeling - Max is a just a lazy beast that works so horribly with OpenGL.

Wow, all these renderers are really going to stir things up.

Anyone know how the animation is in the new FMZ?

No new animation features in 5.5, but supposedly significant enhancements (including object animation) in 6.0:

5.5 has added a few new modeling features and a Lightworks update, but the real attraction for me, aside from Maxwell compatibility, is that it's much more polished and seemingly more stable that 5.0 was.
