Jaguar lover
Hi all! I´m days away from buying a new system from Dell. Does anyone have or reviewed Dells 20" Active Matrix TFT, 1600x1200 @ 60Hz Dot pitch: 0.255 mm? Should I go for it or buy two 19" 1280x1024 from Dell or some other Company. I use Viz 4, Lightscape and Photoshop. Comments and opinoins are very welcome. /Kent
Greg Hess
The Dell 1900FP is the same as a Samsung 191T (Same display, different bezel corporate logo). The 191T's are quite possibly the most recommended LCD currently...barring a few issues that crop up now and then (like Mark's screen burn in). The Dell 20.1 inch is supposed to be a nice display...but its pretty old technology wise now...its been out for more then a year. Viewsonic announced their new slim line of displays at siggy... http://www.viewsonic.com/products/lcd_vp191s.htm They've got very impressive stats which exceed that of the 191T Samsungs. They've also got the thin bezel, which makes a MASSIVE difference when running dual monitors. Sony also have a few 700:1 contrast 19 inch LCD's...but they seem to only be support HD15 outputs. Sigh. Make sure when purchasing an LCD that you get one with a DVI-I output. (You'll need a DVI-I video card to support this). The difference between DVI-I (digital) and HD15 (analog) outputs on an LCD are like night and day. The digital is so sharp it makes CRT's look blurry. Jaguar lover
Thanks,Greg Hess, for sharing your knowledge! I will, inspite of the discussed screen burn in, go for the newer technology. Thanks /Kent
Jaguar lover
I just got my Dell 19" flat display(and my P4 @ 3,2GHz). I am very satisfied. I can strongly recomend it. /K
xgarcia
http://www.cgarchitect.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=000266 Not sure if the Dell is affected also but be wary of the GeForce3 chipset. Gave me and another guy some issues. BTW - I love the Samsung 191T. What a difference from CRT.
