help needed on interactive 3d program

Recommended Posts

hi guys, my uncle from the US emailed this to me and i need some inputs. Sounds like he wants me to develop a program where they could easily change dimensions of their product and the textures. I do 3d modelling but do not have any programming skills. Is there any program that could help me develop what he is looking for?

He writes:

"Do you know of a program or is it possible to set up a program in autocad to do shop drawings of standard details? If customized, how much would it cost or how much would you charge?

This is the problem:

As roofing contractor, we always have to submit shop drawings of sheetmetal flashings, etc - from project to project, the things that change are materials (e.g. kynar coated steel, galvanized, copper, etc.) and dimensions. The program that I'm thinking of will let me select from, say 400 different parts drawings, and specify the material and dimensions (and show them in the drawing). It will draw the part for me, let me snap parts together, or present exploded views. Right now this is oversimplified, and you'll probably get an idea if I send you samples of shop drawings.

Does this make sense to you, and Is there a software solution for this?"

Really need your help guys. thanks and God bless.

If you could develop something like that, I'd pay top dollar for it. That would be one hell of a lisp routine.

Typically, a standard library with various materials is kept as they're individually created for a particular project, and the drawing is labeled as N.T.S. (not to scale) so the dimensions can be forced as necessary. That's assuming his shop drawings consist of the usual rake detail, ridge and valley flashing, chimney flashing, connection transitions, etc. On top of that, he wants exploded views? I hope he's either a very profficient drafter or has one on staff.

Can you post samples?

trisha, my uncle told me that he will be sending me a sample brochure. i'll see if i could post it as soon as it arrives. well, if i'm able to develop something, will be glad to show it to you.
