r2
Hi guys, I made a booboo and ordered the 191T+ on the newegg site. Originally, I wanted the 191T soo now I'm trying to find some more info on this LCD. On the samsung site it says the contrast ratio is 750:1 whereas the 191T is 700:1. Is that the only difference? is the 191T+ a newer version of the 191T? Should I try to return it thanks
r2
it arrived and i plugged it in. WOW this thing is amazing! i even gave it a run on CS and q3. theres a very minimal amount of ghosting. i dont know why everyone complains about games and LCDs :gebigeek: now all i need is a video card with a DVI connector. yes im running analog. anyone know of a good 4x agp card that would work for 3dsVIZ? do 8x cards run in 4x slots? thanks
ingo
A contrast ratio of 700 to 1, are you sure ? I've heard anything between 200 and 300 to 1 is eye pleasing, everything else is no good and hurts your brain. So how is it working for a few hours staring at the monitor ? just curious
r2
greets Ingo: the contrast ratio on this screen is 750:1. but i'm currently running analog so i dont know if that makes any difference. however i can tell you my eyes are much more pleased. i've used it for 16hrs straight now. i once had alot of doubt about buying a LCD but now any doubt is erased. this input coming from working on a 21" mitsubishi crt - .24 dot pitch @ 85hz. i dont think i can stare at that monitor at work anymore. for more info check out the samsung site: http://www.samsungusa.com/cgi-bin/nabc/product/b2c_product_detail.jsp?eUser=&prod_id=191Tplus-Silver thanks
xgarcia
r2 - You'll benefit greatly from running DVI cable. Really sharp and higher contrast than analog. It's like night and day difference with this monitor (I have the 191T). The main differences between the 191T and 191T+ is the contrast ratio, built-in power adapter (AC-DC converter), and I think some USB plugs in the base (maybe). Check the samsung website for more detailed specs comparison. Just for information sake's, in Europe the 191T+ is labeled 193T. Same monitor different name. ingo - I use it for hours on end (normally 8 hours a day with the normal amount of breaks) and I get no eyestrain or headaches, which would always happen with my old 17" Sony Trinitron CRT. LCD is just much better for your eyes' health. Now if I could ust get another one and run dual LCD's.
ingo
Thanks for the help, i still have my old Eizo monitor but maybe look for something new next year.
xgarcia
Sure ingo. No problem. Honestly though, I was relieved when I bought the LCD. I really can't say it enough - how my headaches and eyestrain went away. Now, I'm recommending LCD for everyone who works in front of monitor all day. r2
soooo i decided to take a break and play some more quake3. i really dont know what people meant by ghosting but it looks just like the way i played it on my CRT. the smoothness and colors were very cool except for the parts where i kept getting fragged :ngeupset: . that is all. Greg Hess
I second the recommendation for LCD's, as well as the push for DVI-I. Huge difference in the 191T's with DVI-I. Its just incomparable. The other secondary benefit of DVI-I, is there is no RFI filtering issues with older Geforce cards. (Aka gets rid of the blurriness at higher res's). xgarcia
r2 - some people don't mind LCDs for gaming, some do. It's really a personal preference. Once in a blue moon, I'll load up BF1942 or MaxPayne2 and I really don't see too much ghosting. It's not an issue with me as well.
