Eric
Has anyone seen or used the DELL UltraSharp 2005FPW 20.1-inch Wide Aspect Flat Panel LCD Monitor? I'm looking at upgrading, and wanted some input on it. I currently have the Viewsonic G220fb, and love it. Running a dual monitor setup with a Dell 20" CRT next to it. Due to budget issues at the moment though, we're passing down one of my old computers and passing down one of my screens. I was thinking about just replacing my dual screens with the single DELL 20.1" wide aspect LCD monitor. My vision is getting blurry, and I go home with headaches from time to time, and was wondering also if the LCD might help in that area. Anyway, your thoughts and suggestions are appreciated. Cost is an issue, and the Dell is currently selling for $559.20 on the Dell site. Seems like a good price to me. Thanks, Eric
puciorek
Eric I realize it cost more but I think you should look at this http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?sku=320-4221&cs=19&c=us&l=en Dell UltraSharp 2405FPW 24-inch Wide Aspect Please note the contrast ratio: 1000:1 I purchased it and am very satisfied, I recommend it greatly. radioVOY
lcd and plasma panels are better to stay in front of them long time working instead the crt that uses a diferent refresh lcd o plasma has a static image so your eyes and brain dont get burn with all the information that they have to process with crt and the amount of light that uses a crt instead of lcd of plasma is another reason to switch to panels. well even my self can understand what i just wrote, in other words lcd or plasma panels are not dangerous to your eyes. derijones
I've got one of the 2001FP's ( since Feb 2004)- great bit of kit and much better for your eyes (I had the same problems with eye strain and headaches before, but now I'm OK, probably spending even more time staring at the screen!). I use my old CRT ( a nine year old 20" Belinea that's on it's last legs) as a second monitor (toolbars, reference drawings, browser / email and all junk that I don't need to look at often). I'd wonder whether youd have enough real estate on even a widescreen version alone if you're used to twin screens? Might be worth getting a cheap CRT / LCD to sit alongside? Christopher Nichols
If you keep on eye on here... http://www.slickdeals.net/ I have often seen the Dell LCDs pop up on sales. The site usually offers all sorts of coupons and in the end, you can get a the 24" one for around $700. However, I would like to note to radioVOY, that LCDs are still not a viable replacement for anyone truely interested in color and rendering. You can never calibrate them right. I don't care what people say. And if you set your refresh rate to a something that is 80 or better. There is no chance of eye fatigue. CRTs are getting rare these days, and even at work, we are having a hard time keeping them in stock. BTW... Plasma is getting phased out. They tend to go bad after around 5 years with all the blacks being flashed. That is why you will see that they a cheap on in the stores. Also you can get a used Plasma on Ebay for very cheap since it is near the end of its lifespan.
