rebrov
Hi, I'm trying to setup distributed rendering in our company. Currently I'm testing on 3 computers. What I did is, 1.Started vrayspawnerXX.exe. 2. Open distributed rendering setting, add other severs' name. I also clicked resolve servers and I can see their IP address. 3. Click render..... and I got error info in vray log. "Render host (IP) failed" The texture maps and plug in is on shared drive, which all the severs can access. Anything else I need to set? I already shut down the firewall. I can also see "0.0.0.0" on the bucket of my rendering

JamesTaylor
I have vray 1.46.10 running at home and that setup with max 7 no problem works 90% of the time. at work we have 1.46.14 running on viz and it is really flakey as to when it wants to run, i also had to update the .ini file, the .xml file and the vraydummy.max file to suit viz. previously at work we were running a different version of vray 1.46.?? / 1.47.?? and the dr worked fine once the files were updated. i've now just put down to a bug in vray. Apparently DR should be much more stable in the VRay 1.5 when its released sorry to be of little help, but i've found it straight forward with max, just as you've already tried, it was only viz that caused problems. maybe try a differnt release version? d7man2000
I wondered if you discovered how to make it work. I did same thing: I started vrayspawnerXX.exe on all machines, hit render and got black screen with 0.0.0.0 bucket. I can't figure it out. I use Max 7, latest version of Vray. if you know how to make it work, please reply.

volkane
Got the answer thanx god there is internet " The solution is actually much simpler then you think. Forget all that uninstalling/reinstalling stuff and try this. Run the backburner manager on your host machine and turn on the backburner servers on all machines that you wish to participate in Vray Distributed rendering. Once all machines have registered with the manager atleast once, the vrayspawners will launch and stay open as they should when you need them.
