System Shutdown Automatically

Recommended Posts

i've been experiencing this problem lately, while leaving my pc on overnight for rendering, and so, in the morning, i found out that my pc was 'off' or shutdown by itself. what's the casue of this? this happened a few times when i try to render a scene, both Mental ray renderer and Maxwell. this crash happens particularlly to a file i've been working on. It's only 2MB in size, but there's a few heavy polygonal models for close up shots.

could it be caused by this particular file or it's my systems' hardware? i also tried merging my scenes objects to a new file, the problems still occurs.

Do you have a way to monitor your fans and CPU temps ?? That could be the culprit.

You're not connected to the internet at the time are you ??

Peace

This happened to me once, and it was because I had my Windows update automatically set for a certain time. the computer installed the updates and then turned off in the middle of a rendering....this may not be the case, but it wouldnt hurt to check....

good luck

thanks for your sugggestions :)

i happen not to have any monitoring systems, what i know my power supply comes with dual fans and another fan installed on my casing. the power is meant for server purposes, so quite a high voltage.

yea, i suspect i had my updates set to auto, so after it finished installing automatically shut down, but that doesn't explain when, one time, i was rendering and i was monitoring the progress and it suddenly shutdown, without any warning. my updates wasn't activated at that time.

This shutdown problem has happened to my computer recently too. When I left the computer on (just log off but leace the system on)overnight, it will shutdown itself once during the next day (mostly in the morning). it is so annoying that it jerk it off without any warning.

now I always shut it down manully before I leave and it works fine. It is a HP workstation with win2k pro system.

Do not know the reaseon yet but I thought is the heating. Our IT guys have no idea(they suck, BTW).

I had the same problem as skala67 Windows update was the problem. Although I had a very odd thing happen to one of my render farm units - I had plugged it into a different outlet than the rest, and it just so happens that the outlet's circuits to a light switch that causes the circuit to cut off when the light switch turns off, so every time the last person in the office would leave for the day and shut off all the lights, the one render unit would shut off too. Nobod knew this until we found out by mistake, so you never know it could be something more than jsut your computer..

lol that is funny! What a concept. Wiring the farm to the light switch. You should patent that lol
