hi guys,

Am a beginner and a new member to this forum, i hav posted couple of my works. I hav just started using GI for my works. I use Maya and MR. I hav lot of doubts(am not an architect). As u all know MR is not easy as Vray. I hav to do lot of tweaking to get a good result. My major doubt is..

What are all the properties of an interior

1. How will be room look on different climatic conditions?(sunny day, night time, etc.)

2. How the lighting and shadows should be?

3. And what are all the other properties i should consider before creating an interior?

am very confused, can anyone help me!! I hav uploaded couple of my works, seeing that you will be able to make out what condition am in..

the best advice i can give you is to study real photos of real rooms in different lighting conditions, then try to copy them.

a room is lit by a combination of 3 things -

a) direct light. ie, light fixtures and fittings, lamps, spot lights, tv, candles etc etc

b) indirect light. ie, gi. incidental light or backround light bouncing from the environment naturally lighting the scene. (thats what gives depth and realism to your shadows)

c) environmental light. usually a mixture of direct and indirect light. sun streaming in through the windows usually, or light from the out side lighting the room up through glazed or open doors/windows.

as i say, take a look at real rooms and keep these elements in mind, thats how you light an interior. the rest is down to experimentation, practice, experience, practice, trail and error, test rendering, practice and blood, sweat and tears. oh, and did i mention practice?

Good advice. Get yourself some interior magazines and study them to learn how professional photographers get those great images.

This'll sound weird but you have to really get a feel for materials and how they react to light. It makes a huge difference if your vases (for example) are as transparent, shiny and reflective as they should be.

The biggest fault I can find with your images however, is the furniture layout. This is something else you can learn from interiors magazines.

how do i correct those black splotches on the walls of my 'greenroom' (pic no.1)

I tried tweaking settings in MR, but nothing is working out!

as i mentioned above, i am unfamilier with MR and maya, but it looks like you dont have enough gi samples in the settings.
