AJLynn Posted September 16, 2005 Share Posted September 16, 2005 For CAD, yes - really, you don't need a Quadro card for CAD, but then again you don't actually need much power for CAD, get a 2GHz box with 512MB RAM and a 32MB video card off ebay for... what, 300 UK? For 3D work, it's debatable, I like the professional video cards myself, some ppl use good gamer cards, some ppl have Geforce cards and driver hacks that make them look like Quadro cards, but I wouldn't really recommend it. You don't need Quadro (and alike) only for 2D CAD drafting (AutoCAD for example) But for 3D CAD (AutoCAD/ADT, ArchiCAD, Revit, Catia, SolidWorks and many more) you DO need a good card with full OpenGL support.
