Making A Night Scene From A Day Photo???

I wanted to ask this in the tips/ trick forum, but maybe it'll be moved there if someone can help me out.

 

I basically need to fake a night shot of a building exterior. I have a day photo I need to comp the rendering into, so I need tips on how to make a day photo look like a night photo.

 

I imagine it involves a lot of layers and blend modes??

 

I would really appreciate if someone can point me to some tutorials.

 

I don't need help with the rendering part - just photoshop tips!!!
