Brian Cassil
I'm not sure too many of us arch types have much experience using reactor at all... I for one just started playing around with some of the basic features. It's fun, but I'm stumped on something that should be quite simple. I've succesfully created my limp flag and now I want it to flap in the wind. I throw in the reactor wind and made sure that "applies to cloth" is selected but I don't get any effect on the cloth (flag). With the traditional wind space warp I would need to use the "bind to space-warp" tool, but I don't see anything like that with reactor. I've looked at all the reference material I can find, but as far as I can tell, all I should have to do is plop in the reactor wind and it should affect my cloth... but it's not... so maybe I'm missing something. Any help is appreciated.
ajvbochove
If you don't have a good answer by nightfall... I give you 1. I'm not working on my MAX pc at daytime, but when I come home... I did a flag-animation also (so time ago) and I didn't had any problem. Did you " create animation" ? (see button on reactor toolbar)
Brian Cassil
Did you " create animation" ? (see button on reactor toolbar) Yeah, I've done that. Still nothing.
lambros
The reactor wind (found in helpers->reactor->wind) does not require a "space warp" kind of binding to an object. As long as you have a cloth collection for example that includes a cloth object (an object with a reactor cloth modifier) when you create a reactor wind and it has the "applies to cloth" box checked AND the wind is strong enough for the scene (to beat gravity - if it is on), it should work. At least, I tried it using a simple scene and it worked. Attached you can find the scene for max 7.5. Preview the animation in the reactor viewport to see the effect. Brian Cassil
Thanks for the help! I haven't got things to work quite how I want them yet but at least the wind is affecting the flag now. I had constrain proportions picked with a pretty high value which seemed to be preventing the wind from affecting it.

Ghiath
hi guys...where could I get reactor tutorials ?is reactor for clothes and tree animation ? thnax
chumpychump
One more basic question, how to attach the cloth to the rigid body. Like when I attach the cloth on the rigid body so that part will not move in the wind , like the flag attached in the flag pole so then the flag will not fly away but it still "dancing" in the wind blow Thanks a lot
BunGHoLe
hi guys...where could I get reactor tutorials ?is reactor for clothes and tree animation ? thnax In help>user reference there is a special section reactor...it's very detailed and well explained. One more basic question, how to attach the cloth to the rigid body. Like when I attach the cloth on the rigid body so that part will not move in the wind , like the flag attached in the flag pole so then the flag will not fly away but it still "dancing" in the wind blow Thanks a lot When you set up your scene apply cloth modifier to a plane, select just the vertexies and under the cloth modifier roll out find Attach to Rigit Body. Press Attach to Rigit Body select it and than for none select the thing on which you want the vertexies to be attached.
