frank1331
Asking the eternal question. Does size matter? On a single machine, with single processor, does cahnging the bucket size (render region division) have any effect on the speed or quality of the final output? For example is a region of 32X32, a higher quality than a 64x64? Thanks
JamesTaylor
i beleive it does make a difference, as there is a set up time for each bucket. i'm not too sure that in most cases the difference is that noticable but on large renders it may add up. would be interesting if some one knew more than that. i have read...on vray.info, i think that 128 x 128 is generally an optimum size when using vray, but i can't say if its true or not. Craig Ramsay
In theory it should make a bit of a speed difference. Larger buckets should render slightly faster but use more memory. Craig
Devin Johnston
It definitely makes a difference when doing distributed rendering but the proportion of bucket size to speed depends on the model, memory, processor speed, and image size. It's not proportional, so a 32x32 bucket is slower than a 64x64 bucket but a 128x128 may not be faster than the 64x64.
