carlangas
Hi all, I thought I was done with these but it seems the customer wants a few changes, so I would also appreciate any input from you to further improve them. using max 6 radiosity. thanks
Ricardo Eloy
Looking good, overall. Just check you Exposure Control settings to avoid those bright objects (wood, briclks and some other red-coloured stuff).
carlangas
Hi Rick, I allways have problems where I have large openings. If I lower the exposure controll settings others spots darken up too much. how can I controll that?
Tim Saunders
you might have to adjust it in the objects properties. the kitchen table and those bricks were the main things that bothered me. i would play with the output of the materials on both those. maybe drop the output amount down to about .75 and maybe even the rgb level to .8 on both the table wood and the bricks. nice images though. a little blotchy, but not too bad. CHE
...or you could fix it in PS. Add some contrast, do some color correction, and desaturate the image a bit. Something that really bothers me is the lack of reflectivity/color of the glass in the patio door. Also, I agree with Tim regarding the noise in some parts of the model. Did you use regather? This option can easy double your render time but it would take care of those artifacts. Maybe lower your meshing size a bit more. Nice work overall Carlos. Tim Saunders
i believe if you increase your refine iterations and don't use regather, rendering time won't be too bad. or vice versa, checking regather and uncheck process refine iterations. the one drawback with regathering is, it puts a global filter radious on your whole scene, when some areas can use a larger mesh, however when relying on the refine iterations, the meshing size is stored in each object based on it's size. these are some of the things i hate about radiosity. vray for life! carlangas
these are some of the things i hate about radiosity. vray for life! yeah, I just purchased vray a month or so ago but havnt had the time to really learn it. dont really want to use it for production until the renders look better than my current work with scanline. anyway, thanks for all the good observations. I will take all said into account. I am using re-gather and it is taking a long time to render, the kitchen shot took almost 5 hrs @1300px. ill post other images when theyre done.. Tim Saunders
5 hours, wow! at that resolution. seriously, you could have learned most the ins and outs of vray in that time. maybe you should run some test renders in vray and lets get those problems worked out. i was in your shoes about 2 months ago, then i snapped, and got baptized into the church of vray. ecastillor
Carlos: Vray, specially in interiors, is really good vs Radiosity.... In one day you can get the knowledge to have pretty decent images with vray... and besides, Ive seen your work in vary and is not bad at all.... anyway, it seems yo have a pretty good handle on radiosity
carlangas
yeah, Im going to use it for my next project. Hope you can share your wisdom when i run into trouble...
Tim Saunders
ed was the one who converted me. although it didn't take much convincing. i am crazy about it and i'm still miking the free version. you'll do just fine.
