Another vray question

Hi all you Vray users - everyone right?!

Im calculating an Irradiance map, the every-tenth-frame method...but im running out of time to get the actual render started. If i stop it before its finished will i loose the calculation, or will it remeber what it's done?

Thanks in advance- hope this isn't a daft question!

If you set it to multiframe incremental or Incremental add to current map it should be ok. Check this by making sure the saved irrad map has an appropriate file size in explorer.

Another way to speed the 10th frame irrad map rendering is to tick 'Don't render final image' under the Global Switches rollout. It will render much quicker as it doesn't render the final image - self explanatory.

Hope this helps?

don't use the multiframe incremental if your going to be rendering the animation across a number of pc's. If this is the case the Irridance map has to be rendered entirely on one machine inorder to stop any flickering the final animation

The IRR map is being calculated on one machine - but the final render will be networked- should be alright?

Is it possible then to network render an IRR map? if so how?

that is fine

it is not possible at present to network render an IRR map across multiple machine unfortunately. will be great when they implement it in a newer version if they ever do!!

you can however send the IRR map to render on a single machine thro backburner and then send the final animation as a dependancy of the IRR map.
