JHalton
Hi, I want to start using Autocad to model my buildings, good move?. Does anyone know of a good site where I can find tutorials etc... I have'nt actually got Autocad yet so I want to see what it is like. How quickly can a pro in 3D Studio Max learn autocad? Thanks D
rjgardner
Hi From a personal point of view, I think it's a great move! We do all of our modelling in AutoCAd, I really can't imagine having to do Architectural modelling in Max!! It won't take you long. Most of the AutoCad modelling commands have their "equivalent" in max anyway. Personally, I would buy a book on the subject and you'll be up and running in no time. STRAT
yup, i too think learning a cad package is a great idea. i use autocad. you can do it all in max obviously, but the advantage a cad application has over a 3d rendering/modelling application is that it is infinately more accurate. if ur a pro in max then learning autocad will still be a task, but not half as difficult than if you're a complete all round noob. this site has a few nice tuts - http://www.cadtutor.net/acad/index.html
GLOC
I agree with Richard I might add that you find some user of Acad nearby, to see if it suits you (maybe there are other programs you'd like best) and ask some tips and tricks for fast start. Then, practice and some support books. I really like the program´s help, it is very accurate and deep. If you head this way, feel free to ask anything! Brian Cassil
I know (or maybe knew is a better word) ACAD, and I much prefer modeling in Max. For me, it's about having flexibility in my models all the way though the visualization process, and staying in one program for modeling and rendering is a must. There are people on both sides of the fence on this and there is no need to throw stones over the fence at the other side. So if you feel it will make you faster or more productive or improve the quality of your work than go for it. But don't be shocked if it doesn't do any of those things. P.R.S. Sivakumar .
We have been doing modelling in AutoCAD since the last 9 years. Learning to model in AutoCAD is much easier than Max. Good Luck. P.R.S. Sivakumar
elmassry
Hi Dan .......for me i really to mdel in autocad ...but it is only 2d then export to max and make the 3d . i think that using autocad is essential but only in 2d not 3d cause i used both in modelling and i found that max is more flexible. and finally ............Good Luck
