Dave Bond
I am having trouble making non-repeating ground materials that look realistic. I can't seem to get my head wrapped around the material editor enough to make good textures for large city scenes seen from aerial views. Any help would be greatly appreciated! JamesTaylor
I think this is a problem that many of us suffer from!! I too would be very intersted advice offered on this subject. A couple of suggestions tho Dave, would be to have a look into / research procedural textures and materials aswells the composite material, that is standard in max and viz. the composite maerial allows you to overlay/blend different materials together to make a single one incorrporating them all (does that make sense??) This way you can take the edge off any repetition by having repeating textures at different scales that break each other up (does that make sense????...!!) Hope its of some help James
Dave Bond
Well, I was gonna start buy combining texture maps with falloff and opacity maps...maybe even gradient ramps somehow....have to experiment.
