carloscristerna
Hi all, I have been trying to render a big model in viz 2006 demo...I am trying it but there are certain things that bother me. first of all Mental ray runs aut of memory more than before..the good thing is that now you can actually save your file before it closes.. in the mental ray message window it says that I only have one CPU and two threads...in viz 2005 said 2 and 2. I have read that with viz 2006 mental ray 2.4 comes included and that you can do Distributed bucket render out of the box at least with 8 machines...well, it says mental ray 3.3.3.52... it doesnt seems to work pretty well... some feedback from any user???? thanks!! abicalho
Hi Carlos, VIZ 2005 didn't diferentiate Hyperthreading as VIZ 2006 does. That's why the CPU count was different. Now it knows you have 1 physical CPU with 2 logical units (Hyperthreading) As for VIZ 2006 coming with MR 3.4, your source is wrong. MAX 7.5 comes with mental ray 3.4 and 8 distributed render machines, not VIZ 2006.
