frank1331
Viz 4 Vray Basic. With the exception of the background and adding some entourage, I have taken this as far as I can. Now I need some expert help. How can I make this image more realistic. Materials look flat, and overall image looks too washed out to me. (I have solved the roof of the far tower, this is just a previous image) Thanks for your help
edub
I take it you are changing the sky? It definitely doesn't look realistic - it needs falloff near the horizon, among other things. The water (pond?) doesn't seem to be reflecting the sky properly - it should be brighter, or something. Honestly, it looks lie the building is being flooded!! The way it just comes up to the wall seems strange... there's going to be a lot of water damage there . The edge of the water (by the grass) is WAY to crisp. There should be reeds sticking up here and there, and the water should have ripples. The grass wouldn't come exactly to the edge either... add some mud That grass texture is a bit too repetitive... you need to either fix those dry spots in photoshop, or get another one... Building looks nice... maybe add some light bounce under the roof, or add some interior lighting - overall abit dark in there It's the foreground that needs the most help - it will really be noticable as it is THE FOREGROUND... add a lot of detail. Look for photos of ponds and lakes for references... nothing like the real thing. Keep us updated with your progress. -Erik
AJLynn
I'll second everything Erik said and add: More realistic grass, not sure how much you can do with this with Viz4 and VRay Basic, but people have been doing good things with displacement. Use a better sky, preferably brighter, and make sure the water reflects it (might have to use a reflection environment slot) and get some sky light going on. Put a detail where the water meets the ground - grass doesn't go down into the water like that. Also a detail where the water meets the concrete would help. Usually, the more details the better. What's with the far roof piece? The near one is good. The temptation is to overdo it on the background and entourage. Find the point where it's got enough in it but not too much. karl zacharias
one thing i noticed was the walk...it appears you lined modeled with several verts. along the path...and the grips are giving you some waves...try using just two verts, beginning and end, and outline...the slope will appear more consistant. you could also "sweep" the walk along the path, if you in 7.5 i'd also pull that mesh up along the side of the walk at its end...use a soft selection for smooth look
