mskin
Can anyone tell me where to find the best price on 3d Studio max? Thanks..
Fernando Lino
check first with your local resellers...if you are working in architectural visualization I'd buy VIZ...it's more than 50% cheaper and it has everything you need for that. Brian Cassil
It's my understanding that the prices do not vary. I could be wrong about that though. If it does it wont by very much, so I'd just go through your local reseller. I think the only thing you could do to get the price down is to buy an educational version. Of course you would have to be a student or educator to qualify for that and you would not be able to use it for commercial puposes.
Fernando Lino
the prices are not the same...for example I bought my VIZ for 1,300...on-line (autodesk) was 1,900 and with another reseller about 1,700. about the subscription is almost mandatory...a new version per year. for VIZ is $275/year when a reseller sell several autocad licenses, Autodesk gives some VIZ free to the reseller, so when they sell them ....is 100% profit for them. 3dway
Look into Viz. We got Viz4 and it doesn't have unwrap uvw, subobject animation, morphing, etc.. UVW unrwarp is a big one that's missing, but I suspect it's been included in the newer versions.
mattclasvegas
Prices can vary a little bit. Venders often buy multiple copies when Autodesk has special promotions and then pass on the savings to end buyers. Sometimes special promotions include training dvds and other things thrown in as well. I priced with a couple venders this past summer and found $700 in price variation between the two. matt
Brian Cassil
This is good stuff to know... for some reason I thought that Autodesk controlled the prices pretty tightly. I'll have to do some shopping next time.
