carlangas
Hi all, this morning i tried to boot up my pc, only to find that nothing apeared on screen and the num lock light was flashing. the pc was on and but nothing happened, no hard drive noise. it boots when it wants to and sometimes it even shuts down itself as it tries to boot, once it boots it seems to behave ok, i tried running a diagnostic tool from its manufacturer (compaq) and when it got to the hard drive tests it just reboot itself, I run diskscan and it gave no error messages. now its behaving ok but im afraid it will keep on doing this. have any of you had a similar problem? or know of a free diagnostics too out there. thanks

AJLynn
Also could be hard drive controller - considering it crashes on the hdd diagnostic.

radioVOY
is just dust in some chips or conector, tke the memory and hard drive off and clean up the dust and then reboot, also take out the videocard and clean the fan, use compresed air to remove the excess of dust from the processors.
