windows on my mac

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if it is possible or if someone has done this. I want to have my Powerbook boot to windows and or OSx in other words be dual bootalble. I know I can run virtual pc under OSx , but its slow, is that the only solution?

I've seen machines that use something called bootmagic to boot on winxp or winnt and win98, is there something like that for mac so I can choose between windows or Osx?

Thanks

..I wish wish 3Ds will come out for MAC !!!! - WHAT ARE THEY THINKING!!!

What are you talking about? There are many 3D software titles that are made for the Mac or are cross platform.

Our office has been Mac based for 10 years, with over 75 employees, and we have been successful with exchange of our files with our PC based consultants all along. We have been using ArchiCAD for all our modeling and construction documents (using the Virtual Building method) and we just purchased Cinema 4D R8 Studio for visualization. Prior to this we have been using Artlantis and Vue d' Esprit. I evaluated several apps before making our recent decision.

What are you wanting to do? Maybe I could recommend some titles for you to review.

Nahhh, no dice. Completely different instruction sets at the processor level.

There is a little app floating around the web called "VPC SpeedUp" that allows you to easily quit and restart the Finder while running VirtualPC. Apparently this does help make VPC more responsive but I have no experience with it. In any case VPC is only an emmulation package so performanc won't be great this way either but it's an option.

come on, you cant seriously expect windows to boot on a mac.
..ok now I feel stupid eek2.gif

Ace_Face when I said 3DS I meant 3D Studio, my fault I should have been more descriptive. I am a 3DS + Archicad user, but when I have to render I have to tranfer the model from my Mac to the PC, unless I only work on my workstation (PC). I tryed LW but I do not like it very much. I Tryed C4D and the same story, I can produce better images with 3DS.

I discovered that VPC runs quicker if in full mode. My Mac is pretty fast and I wish I could take full advantage of the power when I do 3D.

..so.. I hope 3DS comes out for Mac soon :)

Hi Cesar, since VirtualPC is bought by an unknown company (i remember somethink with Micro...) we maybe see RealPC coming back. It was always faster than VPC but not so reliable.

And come on, 3DS on the Mac, we dont need that strange software on the Mac. You can use Bryce or SimpleText for that ;)

But because Mac OS X is based on a Unix kernel you can run some nice Unix apps (under X11) on the Mac, how about that ?
