fernando-1
From Viz model to 2d plans Is there a plug-in that takes me from my 3d amourphous model (twisted like in a Ghery building) into a 2d floor plan with walls, windows, doors etc? If so what options do I have? Basically I need to generate 2d floor architectural floor plans from my models in a very efficiently manner. AJLynn
I had to do some of this stuff a couple months ago, with the software I had the easiest route was to get it into Architectural Desptop and use the Section tool on it.

AJLynn
Interesting question. I did a bit of experimenting - made some NURBS blobs in Max and exported an ACAD2004 DWG, and the blobs came through in ADT as a polyface mesh, which may or may not be good enough for you. Max will do the section for you, not sure if this works in Viz, but, under the Create tabe choose Shapes, Splines and one of the options is Section. Using this, draw a rectangle in the Top view then move it to the correct V position and go to the Modify tab, and hit Create Shape. It makes a spline with the intersect on the rectangle and the other geometry. You can export this in an Autocad file and you get a 2D pline. Repeat the process with different Z positions of the section cut to get plans at different levels.
