alfienoakes
I am having some problems with a Vray external scene. I have looked through a couple of tutorials, and have already set up an internal Vray scene. I am used to using VIZ, and usually use radiosity, but was so pleased with the internal scene, that I thought I should use vray on an external. Now I have set the settings as per the tutorial I found here: http://www.alzhem.com/sub1/tutorials.htm But when I render the image it comes out really over blown as per the attached. If I was doing this using radiosity, it would be because my exposure control was off. But that doesn't apply in Vray does it? If anyone can help out, that would be great, as I love the program, but am on a very steep curve at the minute..! By the way, its Vray free and VIZ 2006 Cheers Andy
tdarcy
Hi Andy, Make sure your viz exposure control is turned off. Also when i use the direct light i don't use overshoot, usually i just increase the hotspot to include the whole scene, hope this helps. Cheers TD
alfienoakes
Thanks Trevor, Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be it. I just can't get anything out of it, no matter what setting I change.. its still completely over blown..?? Andy
alfienoakes
Okay.. I have found the problem.. This project I started out using radiosity.... and a daylight system. I hid a few objects to in order to sort out my materials.. and one of those was the daylight system.. so when I turned on what I thought was all my lights.. there was in fact one VERY big one that I had forgotten, as it doesn't come under lights.. Strangely enough its working much better now.. Cheers.. Andy..

alfienoakes
Wow.. thanks for everyone getting back to me.. As mentioned it was "user error" that caused the problem!! Hopefully now I can lurch forwards into the next level of externals... But please keep your eyes open .. I am sure I will be back pleading for help..
