color of scanned input

Hi,

 

I've got a little Canon scanner. When I use it in Photoshop 6, the scanner interface preview of the material looks correct regarding color. The output to PS is way off.

 

When I scanned the same sample in ArcSoft (came with the scanner and I'd never used it before), the color matched the sample and the preview.

 

I don't mind using ArcSoft for scanning, but I'm wondering what color settings I need in Photoshop to have them match - or is this a driver compatability issue?

could it be your working space in PS, are you using "Adobe 1998 RGB" that is the best one.

I don't know. That's why I'm hoping someone here can tell me what to do to get PS set up properly.

 

Carlos, the scan from PS showed incorrectly in ArcSoft too. But the scan from ArcSoft showed correctly in PS. Do the color settings affect how scanned images are imported into PS?

Okay, I figured it out - there is a setting in the scanner utility called "Canon ColorGear Color matching." With that enabled, the color is correct. "Recommended" is enabled by default.
