archytextural
So could someone please explain to me the steps to setting up a good glass material in viz2006 with vray free. Everything I've tried ends up too reflective, and i end up just catching the sun reflection . I love the way vray glass can look and REALLY would like to get my to look as good. Thanks everyone archytextural
DennisHolland
Chris, there are a lot of different types of glass possible in vray. The easiest thing to do is to get the free 'vray compilation' over at evermotion.org and study the settings per type of glass. It realy is a timely matter if you try over and over, while there are great matpacks for download and testing. Dennis

Tim Saunders
Vray mats dont work in vray free... true in most cases, yes, but vray free does come with the material type called vraymap. this is excelent for glass (and any reflective surface for that matter). not sure if this is what you are trying but to start out, make a standard material. in reflection, pick vray map and adjust the reflective value to your desired. to get an even more realistic reflection however, instead of loading vraymap into the reflection slot, load falloff. then in the falloff params, load vraymap in the bottom slot. go back to the top parent and start with a value of like 75 and see where that gets you.
